(UN)LIMITED POSSIBILITIES? A workshop on gendered safety and positionality during fieldwork with Tamara Gupper, Kira Kreft and Laura Thurmann (Safer Fieldwork Project).
Details at a glance (also see the event flyer here):
22/23 August 2022, Cologne/Bonn (details to be confirmed)
Monday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (all gender)
Tuesday 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. (female*-only)
In this workshop we want to raise awareness for physical and emotional risks that might occur during fieldwork. We introduce different tools and strategies to reflect upon one’s own intersecting positionalities and vulnerabilities. On the first workshop day we will engage with risks, ethics and expectations that are related to one’s gender and positionality and how this interacts with the research context, topic and methodology. This day is open for researchers of all genders.
The second day focusses on questions relating to being a woman* in the field. In a women*-only-space, we provide a platform for exchange and discussion of gendered risks, concerns and considerations for female* researchers.
The workshop is aimed at PhD students of the CRC/TRR228.
For both workshop days, we can only accept 20 participants. Please register until 14th August 2022 via email@example.com.
